Resourceful…Resilient…Radiant…

A graduate from the prestigious Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Bloomington, Gayima Kanu gained work experience as a member of Management within the Financial Services and IT Project Management business sectors. By 2014, she had become a brand manager for an Indie Artist Koku Gonza, and co-founded the lifestyle fashion brand, Amyang Fashun™, all while still working a ‘9-5’ with a Fortune 100 tech company. Now a multi-faceted Entrepreneur and Technologist, Kanu launched the experiential consulting hub, I Am Gayima. A Marketing Hub. She leads a team that supports clients with branding initiatives as well as e-commerce design, management, and consulting.

As a travel enthusiast and the daughter of immigrants from Sierra Leone, West Africa, Gayima embarked on an 8-month | 8-country journey through the Continent of Africa at the end of 2017. With a renewed focus on Africa, her hub is expanding, supporting clients in Africa, and implementing initiatives that connect them to opportunities in the US. Her belief that African Diasporans must make traveling to a country in Africa a priority inspired her to launch I Am Gayima. A Podcast. You can listen to stories from her travels and beyond wherever you listen to podcasts.

Identifying a need in the market for a business coaching tool that is a prequel to all of the best books for new Entrepreneurs, Gayima published her first book, Flourish or Die: A Memoir Highlighting the Indispensable Role Mental Fortitude Plays in the Lives of Entrepreneurs. It’s available on Amazon or at flourishordie.com. If Gayima isn’t producing I Am Gayima. A Podcast, she’s mentoring young creatives interested in entrepreneurship through her business initiatives or curating lifestyle events that align with the philosophies discussed in her book.

The narrative of Africa is changing, but it requires honest dialogue to bridge the gap of understanding. This is the key to connection and elevation among Africans & The African Diaspora.
