Woman.

One day I woke up and decided that I wanted to get to know myself.

Naked.

I scheduled a photo shoot and informed my sister that she would accompany me.

I needed to capture what I looked like… from all angles.

I had survived a lot of emotional pain and a transition was underway. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but it’s now obvious that I was ready to grow into the woman that I was destined to become.

I needed to see me first.

My curves.

My brown skin.

My bumps.

My bruises.

My scars.

My stretch marks.

My shadows.

My shell.

My fears.

My God.

When I got the photos back, I had to summon up the courage to open the folder.

My curves.

My brown skin.

My bumps.

My bruises.

My scars.

My stretch marks.

My shadows.

My shell.

My fears.

My God.

I began my journey of getting to know myself almost a decade ago. It started with a photo shoot.

Naked.

It’s been eight years since that shoot.

Imagine what I have learned since then about myself.

Imagine what is ahead of me with God’s will.

I am Woman.
